Leave a Comment A mechanical failure in the Hecto fiber positioner has temporarily disabled it. Binospec has been mounted on the MMT in place of Hecto during November. Planning for servicing Hecto while respecting COVID-19 travel and social distancing restrictions is underway. If Hecto can be repaired in early December, it may return to the telescope in December, swapping time with Binospec. MMT schedulers are working to ensure that PI’s observations can be carried out.
