Nat Carleton passed away on February 25, 2020 at the age of 90. Nat was one of the founding fathers of the MMT Observatory. He served as SAO’s Project Scientist, along with Bill Hoffman at the University of Arizona, for many years before and during the construction of the MMT. He always emphasized the importance of the innovations in the MMT and how those innovations advanced astronomy as a whole. MMT has a sincere appreciation for all that he did to make the MMT a reality. Nat’s legacy will live on every night that we open the MMT. His obituary is available on the Boston Globe and BAAS website.
